Named after its founder, B.K.S Iyengar, Iyengar yoga is a complete approach to physical, mental and emotional well being.

The teaching is methodical and progressive, emphasising safety, alignment and self-awareness.
Who teaches it?
To qualify to teach Iyengar yoga at Level 1, a thorough training of between 3-5 years has to be completed culminating in rigorous assessment. It is therefore considered the ‘gold standard’ of yoga teaching certification. Anna holds a Level 1 Iyengar teaching qualification.
Who is it for?
You do not have to be flexible, young or fit to start it. Students (and teachers!) of Iyengar often carry on with the practice into their 70s, 80s and even 90s, experiencing its wonderful effects, and adapting the practice to suit their needs. Anna will be teaching a general level class suitable for all levels, including beginners.
Why do we use props?
We make use of props sometimes to help us safely attain poses that otherwise would be unattainable. Props can also help us to stay longer in a pose and therefore we can reap the benefits of the poses more fully. BKS Iyengar pioneered the use of props in yoga! In my classes all props and mats will be provided.
